In a bid to ensure pupils learn in a habitable and good environment, Mwea Member of Parliament Mary Maingi, through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), has fully transformed and improved the infrastructure at Wang’uru Primary School.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, along with other dignitaries, including officials from the Ministry of Education, graced the official opening ceremony of the newly constructed Tuition Complex and Administration Block.
The school, which has been in a deplorable state, has been utilizing older offices of the National Irrigation Authority, received a major facelift, and will be ready for occupancy by the pupils. The one-storey building consists of spacious classrooms that can accommodate up to 100 pupils and an administration block.
Maingi said the transformative project is one of the indicators of her commitment to uplifting education standards in Mwea. She highlighted that quality, accessible, and comprehensive education was a critical driver for national transformation.
“I am dedicated to modernizing school infrastructure by constructing more classrooms, laboratories, and ICT centers, providing learning materials, and promoting innovation in our institutions,” Maingi said.
During the event, the MP launched a bursaries kitty worth Sh82 million, assisting learners at various levels of education.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki promised to add more resources to the school to meet the needs of the growing student population.
